Worldwide famous hip-hop artist Snoop Dogg has announced the launch of his new product line in honor of the legendary rapper 2Pac. The line includes cannabis-based products as well as clothes and accessories with symbols of 2Pac's heritage.
That's how Snoop Dogg, a longtime advocate for marijuana legalization, decided to memorialize his friend and colleague 2Pac, who tragically died in 1996. "For me, this is an opportunity to honor Tupac and at the same time pleasure our fans with high-quality hemp-based products," Snoop Dogg said. He also promised that a part of the proceeds from sales would be directed to charity.
At the same time, Snoop Dogg opened his first cannabis shop named S.W.E.D. and located not far away from LAX Airport in California. In the cannabis shop, visitors can find flowers, pre-rolls, hashish, concentrates and, of course, the new cannabis collection dedicated to 2PAC.
Cannabis and hip-hop
Hip-hop and cannabis cultures share common historical roots intertwined with the culture of the African American community in the US. So the birth of hip-hop in the 1970s in NY was inextricably linked to marijuana consumption by young people who were looking for ways to express themselves and protest social inequality.
Many leaders of the hip-hop culture, such as Snoop Dogg, Whoopi Goldberg and 2Pac, openly support the legalization and decriminalization of cannabis use. Their music, lifestyle and active public stance have contributed to the popularization of marijuana use among a wide audience.
Today, this hip-hop and marijuana connection is reflected in the global entertainment and fashion industries, as a lot of commercial brands combine elements of hip-hop culture and the cannabis industry.
